Happy Mother's Day

To all moms everywhere - Happy Mother’s Day! Whether you’re a mom to a 2 legged child, a furry kid or a child in heaven, this is your day to celebrate all that you do to make our lives better! This is the first photo I’ve had taken of me with all 3 of my girls. However you spend your day, try to make it a point to get at least one photo of you with your kids. It’s so important to capture these family moments with all of you!

2017 Goals

Having been a business owner for over 25 years, one thing I've learned is how important it is to have a business plan. The more detailed, the better. So when I officially opened Trina Bauer photography last year, I wrote out a plan and was amazed at how much of my list I accomplished. I didn't meet all of my goals, but that's ok. It gave me some challenges to work toward in 2016.

As this year winds down and I reflect on where I was a year ago, in some ways I've exceeded my hopes and in other ways I don't feel like I made much progress. Ah, such is the journey of any young business.

Looking ahead to 2017, there's no doubt it's going to be an interesting year. My husband and I have had to face some tough challenges recently. This has forced us to think about making some big changes in our lives. We don't know where or how our future is going to shape up, but we know we're definitely in for quite an adventure! It all starts with an extended trip to Southwest Florida in early Jan. I'm really excited to be spending most of my winter in the sunshine state! If you missed my blog post explaining why, click HERE. It's more than just about escaping the cold and snow!

My trip to Florida will allow me to focus all of my time and attention on my photography business. I'm really looking forward to it! I've got lots of goals and plans I've been wanting to make happen, but sadly, I just haven't had enough time to follow up on them. So to make the most of this opportunity, over the last several weeks I've been busy writing out an extensive and detailed business plan. You'll see some new products offered, more blog posts (I'm planning on blogging 3x/week!) and a declaration to work toward earning my CPP (certified professional photographer) degree! Mostly though, I'm anxious to get my camera in front of your fur babies! The role pet sitting plays in my work life will be changing so I can get out and photograph more!

It's going to be an exciting time! Bring on 2017!!

Countdown to Florida is on!

Countdown is on for my trip to Florida! My to do list is growing by the day, but I’m getting really excited! Seven weeks in the sunshine state will do my soul some good. Don’t get me wrong, I love State College. And I don’t mind the snow. But as I get older, I like driving in the white stuff less and less and I hate it when we get an ice storm. But one of the many things I’m looking forward to is sunshine. That’s always been one of my biggest gripes about Happy Valley. When it’s sunny, It’s gorgeous out. But week after week after week of overcast days really get to me. So while I look forward to cuddling up on the couch and reading a good book, I dread those dreary days.

Those of you who’ve been following me on my photography journey know that in the last couple of years I’ve gotten really serious about it. Making Trina Bauer photography an official business a little over a year ago, I’ve  enjoyed the ride so far. However, there is so much I want to do that I haven’t been able to make happen. Working full-time and running my pet sitting business means long days during the busy season and inconsistent work hours daily. I find that I can’t always commit to plans I have for sessions, marketing and blogging.

Which is why I’m really looking forward to this extended trip. I will be able to focus all of my time on my photography. I used to photograph landscapes, but the lack of time has kept me from doing so in recent years. I have several marketing campaigns that I want to finally make happen. But mostly I’m looking forward to some down time, clearing my mind and allowing my creative juices to really flow. I find I enjoy spending time outdoors just admiring this beautiful earth of ours. It’s in those moments I get some of my best creative ideas. I plan to explore as much of southwest Florida as I can. I have my sketchbook ready to go. My girls Izzy and Kita will be joining me as well. It’s going to be a fun adventure!

I’ll be posting updates on facebook, blogging about my experience and sharing photos on instagram. I hope you’ll follow along with me!

If you missed my blog post when I announced my plans to hit the beach this winter, you can read it HERE

Hitting the Beach: Calling all Florida pets

Who doesn’t love Florida in the winters? I sure do! For years I have dreamed of spending part of my winter somewhere, almost anywhere, south where the sun shines almost everyday, layers are not required and I don’t have to wake up extra early to scrape the snow, sleet and ice off my car windshield before heading to work. I’m excited to announce that I will be hitting the beach and heading to sunny southwest Florida in early 2017. I'll be offering limited pet photography sessions from Sarasota to Naples. That includes Venice, Englewood, Boca Grande, Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Sanibel Island, Captiva, Bonita Springs, Naples and Marco Island. I cannot wait!!

Have a pet that deserves to be in the spotlight? Always dreamed of having family photos on the beach that included your fur-kids? Now's your chance! Know anyone who would be interested? Pass this on! Limited sessions are available from Jan 16 - Feb 24, 2017.
