How does custom pet photography work? | State College pet photographer

So after reading last week's blog post about what custom pet photography is, you've decided that you want a custom pet photography session with your fur-baby, but aren't quite sure how it works. Today, I will cover the process and what you can expect. It starts with our first conversation when I begin to get to know you and your fur-baby. During this conversation, we'll set up a time to do a pre-consultation meeting. Usually I come to your house and meet all the family members who will be participating in the photo shoot as well as your fur-baby. I don't take any photos during this meeting. This is a time to get to know you and your fur-baby better. We'll fill out a questionnaire together addressing questions such as would you like to be in the photos too, does your fur-baby have any physical limitations that I should know about, how did your fur-baby come into your life, what do you love most about your fur-baby, and so on. We’ll talk about what you would like to do with the images created during your photo session and what shots you would like me to capture. I will bring samples of products I offer so you can see them, touch them and feel them. If you are interested in wall art, we will look at your walls and measure the space to determine what size framed pieces or wall collection we can create.

Next, we’ll discuss a location where the photo session will take place. There are many factors to consider when choosing a location which I'll cover in a future blog post. We’ll also pick a date and time for your session.

In the days leading up to your photo shoot, we’ll touch base and make sure Mother Nature is going to cooperate with our plans. If she has other ideas, we’ll reschedule for a day when the weather is better.

Then the day you’ve been waiting for! Since we’ve prepared for this, it’s just a matter of having fun and enjoying your time with your fur-baby! We’ll shoot as long as necessary, though usually after about 2 hours, most fur babies are done and are ready for a nap.

Next, I’ll download all the images, retouch them and post them in a gallery for your viewing. Once you get the password from me, you’ll have 3 – 5 days to look at your images. All I want you do now is narrow your choices down by telling me which images you don’t want. We’ll meet again at your house, look at your images together and place your order. Since we already talked about what you wanted to do with the images, this should only take 1 – 2 hours. All persons who are a part of the ordering decision must attend this meeting.

I’ll finish editing the images you’ve selected, place the order with my lab and count down the days until the items are delivered. Once I’ve inspected everything, I’ll schedule a time to drop it off, usually about 2- 3 weeks after the ordering appointment though some items may take longer. When you open the package you'll "ooh" and "aah" about what a superstar your fur-baby is!

If you have any questions about the process, please let me know. And if you’re ready to schedule a custom photography session with your fur-baby, I’d love to hear from you!
