Why you should be in photos too

Let’s face it – cell phones take pretty amazing photos these days. With so many filter options and editing features, it doesn’t take long to make an ordinary image extraordinary. Even I’ve fallen for images I thought were taken with a professional grade DSLR only to find out it was a cell phone snap.

Which means you can also take some awesome photos of your pets using the camera you already own – your cell phone. And while you can take selfies with your favorite pooch, it’s pretty hard to capture the relationship you share with your furry family members. For this reason, I encourage all of my clients who book a pet photography session with me to be included in photos too.

It sounds like a rather simple request, in fact, many people are rather shy about being in front of the camera. Excuses I hear include, “maybe when I’ve lost 10, 20, or more pounds, I’ll consider it.” “I’m not pretty enough”, “I don’t know how to pose so I’ll look good”, “I have nothing to wear.” The truth of the matter is that none of this matters.

You’re beautiful just as you are. Today. Tomorrow. And of all the tomorrows you’ll have on this earth. As far as posing, I’ll guide you throughout the entire session to how to pose so you’ll look your best. And while clothing does a lot to enhance images, your outfit does not need to break the bank. In fact, I bet you already have some pieces in your closet right now we can work with to create an outfit that not only looks good, but that you’ll feel great wearing.

Our pets are a part of our lives for such a short period of time. The bond we share with them should be celebrated and memorialized so we can treasure it for years to come. You can’t capture that with a selfie, or with photos of just your pets on a cell phone. I know it can feel uncomfortable being in front of the camera. I’ll be there to guide you every step of the way. I promise you won’t regret it. After all, you’re creating memories with your best friends, moments you will always remember!
